Located in Latham, our magnets factory in Upstate New York is almost hidden away in a site just adjacent to Albany International Airport. Founded in May 1972, as a spin off from GE’s corporate R&D center, the facility first started producing high field, small bore superconducting magnet systems for research. The company was acquired by Philips in 2006 after being a supplier of superconducting magnets for Philips for many years. It has the ambition to be the #1 MR superconductive magnet business in the world through technology leadership, a lean culture and a focus on quality and compliance.
The Latham MR magnets factory is a manufacturing and development site for Magnetic Resonance Imaging magnets and other superconducting products used for Philips Magnetic Resonance Imaging and other customers. This site is part of the Magnetic Resonance Business Innovation Unit in Healthcare. The site also provides service training for magnets and cryogenics, together with support for Philips GSS.
